Last week we gathered with maker friends for food, laughter and encouragement. Our goal was dockside eating at the Sadler Point Marina. A small tropical depression kept us in the boat building. Howling winds were no match for our mirth and fierce flavors shared.
Our friend Brentley just got back from Bee College. She regaled us with tales of outrageous bee mating rituals and the complex communication system used to pollinate with poise and order.
We each brought food and drink to share. Every thirty minutes we changed seats so as not to miss whatever delicacy was beyond reach. This was our third time to gather purposefully as makers. Our first meal was in an orange grove. Our second on Alina's farm, in her field, right beside the crops. For this meeting, we chose waterside. Farm to table is important to us. We believe slow food and slow conversation have the power to nourish a lifetime.
We are small business women who make: photographs, hand pies, handbags, seeds grow, magazines, pops1cles, books, and friends. Together we are the Maker Series.
